MORNING DEVOTIONS
From Psalm 51
O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Gloria Patri
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
A Reading (1 Peter 1:3)
Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who according to His abundant mercy
has begotten us again to a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead.
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers for oneself and others.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass
against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Collect
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father,
You have brought me in safety
to this new day:
Preserve me with Your mighty power,
that I may not fall into sin,
nor be overcome by adversity;
and in all I do,
direct me to the fulfilling of Your purpose;
through Jesus Christ, my Lord.
Amen.
AT NOON
From Psalm 113
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.
The Lord is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
A Reading (Isaiah 26:3; 30:15)
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
In returning and rest you shall be saved;
In quietness and confidence
shall be your strength.
Prayers for oneself and others.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass
against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Collect
Lord Jesus Christ, You said to Your apostles,
“Peace I give to You;
my own peace I leave with You.”
Regard not my sins, but the faith of Your Church,
and give to me the peace
and unity of that heavenly City,
where with the Father and the Holy Spirit
You live and reign, now and for ever. Amen.
IN THE EARLY EVENING
of the everliving Father in heaven,
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
and my eyes behold the vesper light,
I sing Your praises, O God:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are worthy at all times
to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of Life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
A Reading (2 Corinthians 4:5-6)
For we do not preach ourselves,
but Christ Jesus the Lord,
and ourselves your bondservants
for Jesus’ sake.
For it is the God who commanded light
to shine out of darkness,
who has shone in our hearts
to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God
in the face of Jesus Christ.
Prayers for oneself and others.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass
against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Collect
Lord Jesus, stay with me,
for evening is at hand
and the day is past;
be my Companion in the way,
kindle my heart,
and awaken hope, that I may know You
as You are revealed in Scripture
and the breaking of bread.
Grant this for the sake of Your love.
Amen.
AT THE CLOSE OF THE DAY
Psalm 134
Behold, bless the Lord,
All you servants of the Lord,
Who by night stand
in the house of the Lord!
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary,
And bless the Lord.
The Lord who made heaven and earth
Bless you from Zion!
A Reading (Jeremiah 14:9, 22)
You, O Lord, are in our midst,
And we are called by Your name;
Do not leave us!
O Lord our God.
A Second Reading (Luke 2:29-32)
Lord, now You are letting
Your servant depart in peace,
According to Your word;
For my eyes have seen Your salvation
Which You have prepared
before the face of all peoples,
A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
And the glory of Your people Israel.
Prayers for oneself and others
Prayers of Thanksgiving
O God, the life of all who live,
the light of the faithful,
the strength of those who labor,
and the repose of the dead:
I thank You for the blessings
of the day that is past,
and humbly ask for Your protection
through the coming night.
Bring me in safety to the morning hours;
through Him who
died and rose again for me,
Your Son, my Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Penitence for sins
I pray to You also for the forgiveness of my sins.
Have mercy upon me, most merciful Father;
in Your compassion forgive me my sins,
known and unknown,
things done and left undone;
and so uphold me by Your Spirit
that I may live and serve You
in newness of life,
to the honor and glory of Your Name;
through Jesus Christ, my Lord.
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass
against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Collect
Visit this place, O Lord,
and drive far from it
all snares of the enemy;
let Your holy angles dwell with me
to preserve me in peace;
and let Your blessing be upon me always;
through Jesus Christ, my Lord.
Amen.
The almighty and merciful Lord,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
bless me and keep me.
Amen.
INTERCESSION
Father, I pray for the Christian Church worldwide;
That we all may be one.
Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve You;
That Your Name may be glorified by all people.
I pray for all bishops, priests, pastors, and deacons;
That they may be faithful ministers of Your Word and Sacraments.
Give all Christians grace to do Your will in all that they undertake;
That their works may find favor in Your sight.
I pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world;
That there may be justice and peace on the earth.
Have compassion on those who suffer from any grief or trouble;
That they may be delivered from their distress.
Protect and guide hermits and solitaries throughout the world;
Visit them with Your presence and grant them Your Holy Spirit.
Give to the departed eternal rest.
Let light perpetual shine upon them.
I praise You for Your saints who have entered into joy;
May I also come to share in Your heavenly kingdom.
Defend me, deliver me, and in Your compassion protect me;
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit.
Empower me to follow the examples of Anthony the Great and Paul of the Hermit;
Grant me the grace, wisdom, and love to fulfill my vocation.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal;
Have mercy on me.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen,
