The Book: Psalms in 30 Days

I have finally found my prayer book. Trevin Wax has compiled the easiest Liturgy of the Hours I have found. It is now my prayer book of choice.

The 30 days Is divided up into morning, midday, and evening prayer. All three begin with a call to prayer, psalms to be prayed, and end with the gloria, the Lord’s prayer, and a blessing. Midday prayer is shorter, with one or two psalms.

Morning prayer also begins with a confession of faith and a canticle before the psalms. After the Psalms it also includes a place for your own intercessions and personal requests, and has a prayer for the church.

All the elements change day to day, except the Gloria and the Lord’s prayer. Even the confession of faith changes, but you can always use the Apostle’s Creed from day one. I also prefer the Gloria used by the Eastern Orthodox.

My only major complaint is the font size. It is way too small. One site says it’s 9 point font, but it looks more like 6 or 7 point font. Either way, the print is much smaller than standard books. They need to make a large print edition for older folks like me
